Picture this: You’re in the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen in your life, the Inn owner doesn’t speak english, and you have random food items to survive off of. That was the reality of a week of my life, but it has been the most fun I’ve had yet. It was just my team, the owner (Preck), his son (Albert), a cow, and the Albanian mountains.

Month two my team headed to Theth, Albania. We prayed about where to go this month and ended up finding a small town in the mountains. Every door opened up to go, so we packed our stuff and went. The first couple days we were in Theth we hung out as a team and bonded. We thought there would be a store or at least a town, but we were mistaken. At first we didn’t even have a kitchen, but the owner brought over the neighbors stove for us to cook on. Every day we ate rice for lunch and pasta for dinner. To spice it up we would put peach jam in our rice and lots of seasonings. As you can see, we were getting desperate and had no idea why God directed us to this village.

After about two days we were ready for some people, but with having seen no one, we thought this was a lost cause. We said a quick prayer and that night 22 backpackers from Israel came through the Inn. It was just Albert running the Inn that night and the man looked stressed. We went up to our room to eat so we could get out of the way and decided to pray over the people coming through. We prayed that they would speak english, that we would be able to love on them in any way we could. As we were praying I got this vision of us serving the 22 dinner. I told my team and before my sentence was even done we were cleaning up to go see if we could make the vision come to life. We headed downstairs and the backpackers tour guide spoke good english and loved that we wanted to help, so he started giving us orders. We got to make their beds, cook them food, serve them dinner, and clean the dishes. Every single one of the 22 spoke english and it was the biggest blessing to be able to talk to people. Albert was so thankful for the help and wanted to give back to us, so he showed us how he makes the bread every morning. We got to try some and it was the best bread I have ever had in my life. We asked if we could buy the bread off him, but he gave it to us for free. We now had rice, pasta, and bread!!

Every day since that prayer backpackers came through and stayed the night. We got to talk to all of them and all of them spoke english. Preck and Albert grew fond of us, at least we think, and blessed us a bunch throughout the week there. They would give us soup, tomatoes, and showed us how to milk the cow. Living at the Inn was insanely fun. Every day was so full even though there was really nothing to do. It showed us how God answers prayers and we got to watch people come to life. Every day we got to serve each other, the owner, and the backpackers. Theth will never leave my heart. It’s a dream.

  1. Camden, you can milk a cow? I know that I should start with the obviously beautiful setting you all got to enjoy. Gorgeous! Add to that the sacrifice of eating only carbs with a tomato or cup of milk for a week. Then, I need to comment on the miracle of God giving you a vision to feed 22 people and you were truly able to bless them and the owner of the inn. Praise God. You all are being blessed. Love hearing these stories!

  2. Way to milk a story! No really! This is great, Camden! To be blessed with bread—the bread of life, eh? I love this story as it places in our hearts what and where we should be—living on faith. God bless you all for showing up with Jesus! See you soon!
